Neuromusculoskeletal Complications of SCI
It is important to distinguish between the direct consequences of an SCI/SCD and the secondary health conditions and complications of SCI/SCD. Direct consequences of the condition cannot be avoided, and must instead be addressed through supportive care and rehabilitation approaches. In contrast, secondary health conditions/complications are, by definition, potentially preventable or at least partially treatable. There are a number of potential complications of SCI that can impact upon the neuromusculoskeletal system.
