Pressure Ulcers

After two months of rehabilitation, Mr. A.H.’s nurse notices that a persistent red area on Mr. A.H.’s coccyx has developed a stage 2 pressure sore. This has occurred despite good skin care by nursing and frequent repositioning.

2. Pressure ulcers (PU) are the most frequent secondary complication linked with SCI, occurring in approximately 34% of individuals during the acute care/rehabilitation phase with prevalence rates in subsequent years post-injury ranging from 14–46%.
